“Tennis elbow” is a common term for a condition caused by overuse of the arm, forearm, and hand muscles that causes pain in the elbow. You do not have to play tennis to get that, but the term has started because this can be a big problem for some tennis players.
The tennis elbow is caused by a sudden or slight injury to the muscle and tendon around the outside of the elbow. The tennis elbow specifically refers to the area where the muscles and tendons of the forearm connect to the outer area of the bone (called epicondylus lateralis) of the elbow. Your doctor may refer to this condition as lateral epicondylitis. Another common term, “golfer’s elbow”, refers to the same process that occurs within the elbow that your doctor may call medial epicondylitis. Overuse injuries can also affect the back or elbow.
The tennis elbow most often affects the people in your dominant arm (ie, a right-handed person has right arm pain), but it can also occur in the non-dominant arm or both. Poor.
What are the symptoms of tennis elbow?
The tennis elbow symptoms include:
The pain slowly increases outside the elbow. Less often the pain can develop suddenly.
The pain is worse when they shake hands or shake things.
The pain worsens when the wrist is stabilized or moved by force. For example, lift objects, use tools, open glasses or even handle simple utensils such as toothbrush or knife and fork.
